Dictionary Entry

Accelerators are programs for seed-stage startups, usually fixed-term and cohort-based - comparable to bootcamps. The business model of an accelerator is to invest time, effort and sometimes money into seed-stage startups in return for equity.

During the program the accelerator supports startup teams with workspaces, mentoring, connections, educational programs and by challenging the business idea. Often accelerator programs end with demo days when startup teams pitch their product or business to investors or potential customers.
